From December 3 to 7, 2025, a delegation led by DHU Vice President Yan Linping visited universities in Australia. The delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with La Trobe University, explored potential collaboration with Macquarie University, attended the second alumni representative assembly of the Donghua University Australia & New Zealand Alumni Association, and met with outstanding alumni representatives.
On December 4, the delegation held talks with Professor Amalia Di Iorio, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University, and Professor Wenny Rahayu, Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Both sides reviewed the positive progress made since La Trobe University’s visit to DHU in September this year and engaged in pragmatic discussions on advancing the establishment of a cooperative education institution. Following the talks, the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Cooperative education as a focal point, they will simultaneously explore possibilities for collaboration in areas such as industry-academia-research integration and the cultivation of innovative talents.

On December 5, the delegation visited Macquarie University and held discussions with Mr. Stephen Fan, Director of Global Partnerships and Protocol, and Professor Jian Yang from the School of Computing and Co-Director of the Data Horizons Research Centre. Both parties explored potential cooperation in the fields of information and computer science, including academic exchanges, joint research, and talent cultivation, reaching preliminary consensus.

On December 6, the second alumni representative assembly of the Donghua University Australia & New Zealand Alumni Association was held. Mr. Li Wei, Minister-Counselor from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia, and Ms. Lin Xiaoqing, Counsellor for Education from the Education Office of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney attended to offer their congratulations. Vice President Yan Linping conveyed warm greetings to all alumni in Australia and New Zealand, introduced the university’s recent significant progress in discipline development, scientific research, and social services, and thanked the alumni for their longstanding support. The assembly elected a new council, with alumnus Xu Yangdong (Class of 1980, Mechanical Engineering) elected as the second president of the Donghua University Australia & New Zealand Alumni Association. After the meeting, Vice President Yan Linping met with several alumni representatives for in-depth discussions on further strengthening the connection between alumni and their alma mater and jointly serving society.

This visit expanded DHU’s cooperative network with high-level Australian institutions, strengthened the bonds between overseas DHUers and their alma mater, and injected new momentum into DHU’s accelerated advancement of educational opening-up.
