On October 18, over two thousand alumni from home and abroad gathered on the DHU campus to celebrate the 74th anniversary of their alma mater. DHUVice President Yan Linping attended the celebration ceremonyandtheceremony was presided over by Shen Jie, Director of the Development and Liaison Office and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association. Representatives from schools and functional departments oftheuniversity also participated.

On behalf of DHU, Yan Linping expressed heartfelt gratitude and a warm welcome to alumni for their continuous care and support. He highlighted the DHU’s recent achievements in four key areas: discipline development as a guiding principle, deepened education reform, enhanced scientific innovation, and expanded international exchange and cooperation. Standing at this new historical starting point, he called for further uniting the strength of alumni, leveraging DHU’s intellectual resources, and strengthening ties between alumni and the university to advance together.

During the event, the Integrated Circuit Industry Alumni Association was established. Yan Linping presented the association plaque to its President, Zhu Feng, an alumnus who appliedfor his master’s degree in Physics from 2000 in DHU and now serves as Chairman of Shanghai Liqun Technology Co., Ltd. Appointments were also made for Alumni Ambassadors and Alumni Secretaries. The Lifelong Learning Platform for alumni was officially launched. Chen Lihua, an alumnus from Class 1963 of Textile Engineering of the Evening School of East China Textile Engineering Institute(predecessor of DHU)and a retired staff member of Shanghai Textile Architecture Design Institute, delivered a speech as an alumni representative. He expressed deep gratitude for the education here that transformed the fate of his entire family and donated RMB 150,000 from his savings to establish the “Chen Lihua Education Fund”. The first installment of RMB 100,000 was transferred that day to the Shanghai Donghua University Education Development Foundation. Fang Teng, a student from the Class of 2024 of the Honor Program in Materials, shared insights as a representative of the “Building Dreams with Heart Bridge” summer social practice project. The alumni choir performed the classic song “Looking Back Again” with great emotion and led the singing of the university anthem, “Ode to DHU”.


Across the campus, alumni reunited with handshakes and hugs, took photos together, and enjoyed nostalgic campus meals, reliving memories of their youth. Allthe schools also organized a range of homecoming activities, allowing every alumnus to feel the warmth of “returning home”.
