From May 19 to 24, Vice President Liu Shuhui, at the invitation of partner institutions, led a delegation to visit universities including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and the National University of Singapore (NUS), as well as research institutes such as the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Graduate School at Singapore. The delegation also paid a courtesy call to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore. During the trip, DHU hosted thematic overseas talent recruitment sessions for relevant disciplines and held in-depth discussions with institutional leaders and distinguished scholars.
PolyU is one of DHU’s most important partners in Hong Kong. During the visit, the delegation exchanged views on academic frontiers with Professors Tao Xiaoming, Fan Jintu, and Wang Xungai. The delegation also visited HKRITA and met with DHU faculty and student representatives attending the Spring Conference of the Fiber Society in Hong Kong.

At the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Vice President Liu briefed the mission on the university’s development and its growing collaborations with Singapore. Minister-Counselor Han Jun commended DHU’s achievements in strengthening exchanges and encouraged the university to further leverage its disciplinary strengths to broaden educational and technological partnerships in Singapore.
At NTU Singapore, the delegation met with the Editor-in-Chief of the ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces journal series.The two sides thoroughly discussed the “4+1” undergraduate-to-master’s articulation program and the future development of Advanced Fiber Materials, DHU’s independently established academic journal, and reached preliminary consensus.At NUS, the delegation visited laboratories, held discussions with international scholars and student representatives, and met with NUS College representatives, reaching agreement on launching a joint practice-oriented course with a focus on textiles and apparel. The delegation also visited the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Singapore Graduate School to learn about its history of overseas education and the operational mechanisms of major China-Singapore collaborative research projects.
During the visit, the delegation hosted specialized overseas recruitment sessions for the materials science discipline, presenting DHU’s talent policies and encouraging outstanding young scholars to return to China to join DHU and contribute to its "Double First-Class" initiative. The sessions, held both online and offline, attracted more than one hundred participants and achieved positive outcomes.

This visit was aligned with bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference and the Singapore-Shanghai Comprehensive Cooperation Council. It laid a solid foundation for deeper academic exchange and collaboration while strengthening traditional goodwill and mutual trust.The delegation included leaders from the College of Materials Science and Engineering, the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Fiber Materials, the Office of International Cooperation, and the Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs.
