On June 13, Vice President Yan Linping of Donghua University met with a 14-member delegation of rectors from Albania at the Yan’an Road Campus. Representatives from Donghua University’s International Cooperation Office, International Cultural Exchange School, College of Foreign Languages, and College of Humanities attended the meeting.
President Yan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the Donghua university’s educational characteristics, mentioning its breakthroughs in key fields such as smart textiles, green materials, and aerospace composite materials. He stated that being committed to an open philosophy in education, the university has proactively engaged in broad international cooperation and established partnerships with over 200 universities worldwide. Donghua University now has also implemented educational cooperation projects in Kenya and other regions. Yan praised the accomplishments of Albanian universities in cultural exchange and academic research.
Artan Hoxha, Rector of the University of Tirana (Universiteti i Tiranës), and Akli Fundo, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana (Universiteti Politeknik i Tiranës), respectively introduced their universities in terms of student enrollment, academic programs, and international cooperation. They noted that both universities share many common academic interests with Donghua University and hoped to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in engineering.
The two sides deeply discussed pronged areas including student exchanges, faculty visits, and joint research and reached a preliminary consensus. The delegation included Artan Hoxha, Rector of the University of Tirana(Universiteti i Tiranës); Akli Fundo, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana (Universiteti Politeknik i Tiranës); Erion Malaj, Albanian Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Tirana; as well as deans and faculty members from the University of Tirana’s Faculty of History and Philology, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Natural Sciences. Before visiting Donghua University, the delegation had also visited the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
