Online Meeting with the Royal College of Art Held

On April 9, President Xiang Yanxun of DHU held an online meeting with Professor Christoph Lindner, President of the Royal College of Art(RCA), UK.  The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on refiningareas of collaboration and co-establishing the "ShanghaiCentre", reaching significant consensus. Also attending the meeting were Professor Ken Neil, Vice President of RCA, Professor Chen Ge, Vice President of DHU, and representatives from relevant departments of both institutions.

President Xiang remarked that the Royal College of Art is one of the world’s most prestigious institutions for art and design, with global recognition in fields such as art and design, architecture, fashion,and industrial design. He noted that DHU is accelerating the development of interdisciplinary academic clusters, with a strong focus on cross-disciplinary design studies and international engagement. These efforts provide a solid foundation for cooperation between the two universities. Xiang expressed his hope to accelerate substantial collaboration between the two institutions, particularlyin co-developing the "RCA Shanghai Centre", establishing joint laboratories, and launching non-degree education programs. He emphasized the goal of conducting cutting-edge research, cultivating high-caliber interdisciplinary talent, and promoting the integrationof design innovation with materials science and information technology to contribute to global fashion design, art education, andindustry advancement.


President Lindner commended DHU’s academic achievements and vision forcollaboration. He expressed RCA’s keen interest in deepening cooperation in areas such as joint research, advanced education,consultancy services, and alumni engagement, with the goal of building an open and inclusive international platform. He emphasized that Shanghai, as a global hub for art, design, and innovation,offers vast potential for collaboration between the two institutions. He also looked forward to welcoming a DHU delegation to the RCA forfuture exchange and dialogue.


Following the meeting, Vice Presidents Chen Ge and Ken Neil, along with working teams from both sides, held further discussions on building acollaborative framework, preparing for joint workshops, and draftinga memorandum of understanding.
