iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 WINNER Earned by Two Industry-Education Integration Design Projects from DHU

Recently, two industry-education integration design projects, “Chemix” and “Roooof”, created by Wang Xuan, Hu Junyao, Chen Dandan, and Fu Yiweng under the guidance of Professor Wu Chunmao from the College of Fashion and Design of Donghua University in collaboration with Shanghai Guangwei Electric & Tools Co., Ltd., were awarded two iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 WINNER titles.

Chemix is an innovative educational product designed to facilitate chemistrylearning. Starting from introducing everyday objects,with gamified arrangement and combination of the Periodic Table, it helps students grasp abstract chemical concepts effortlessly. It features a set of NFC-enabled magnetic chemical element modules, along with a corresponding learning platform. Each module is embedded with a chemical element model, allowing students to freely assemble them according to the periodic table rules to form chemical compounds that correspond to everyday items. Chemix not only clarifies the relationships of elements but also enables students to experience the charm of chemistry through practical applications.

Roooof is a new-energy vehicle charging station designed to effectively address rainy and snowy weather, embodying the "Form follows function" design philosophy. Its unique shape is inspired by the lines of eaves, featuring a simple and aesthetic curvature.When faced with rainy or snowy weather, its naturally curved shell can provide ample protection for charging interfaces. Additionally, Roooof comes with interchangeable shells made fromvarious materials and interactive lighting, creating a distinctive user experience in terms of emotion communication.

Established in 1953, the iF DESIGN AWARD is globally recognized as one of the “big three” international design accolades, alongside the Red Dot Award and the IDEA Award. This year, the iF DESIGN AWARD attracted nearly 11,000 entries from 66 countries and regions. After a rigorous final review by 131 experts from 23 countries, the awardswere granted to those high-quality innovative designs that lead the development of the times, honoring them as iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 WINNER. The Design Innovation Center of the College of Fashion and Design of DHU serves as a municipal-level design innovation hub, actively promoting innovation-driven industrial services, interactive experiences, fashion and cultural innovation, healthcare and smart wearable design research, as well as nurturing top-tier innovative design talent for the new era.
