On November 2, the 14th “Challenge Cup” QinChuangYuan Chinese College Students’ Entrepreneurship Plan Competition came to a close in Xi’an. Donghua University(DHU) achieved its best-ever performance, winning 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze awards in the main competition, 1 silver in the QinChuangYuan Special Competition, and 2 bronze in the Belt and Road Special Competition.

The project “High-Performance Fiber Woven Flexible Vehicle Interceptor” from the College of Textiles won the National Gold Award. The project team developed a lightweight and portable vehicle interception device, offering both flexibility and high efficiency in blocking vehicles. It can significantly reduce the risk of excessive vehicle damage and effectively safeguard the lives and property of occupants. This innovation advances the development of road safety technology, playing a key role in supporting public security, public transport safety, and crime-combating.

The project “First Domestic Breakthrough in High-Purity Lactic Acid from Kitchen Waste” from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering won the National Silver Award. The team innovatively applied advanced electronic regulation technology to control microbial metabolism, enabling the rapid, directed production of high-purity lactic acid. Additionally, the team pioneered a new calcium salt crystallization process, which enabled the production of calcium lactate products meeting industrial-grade purity standards. This breakthrough provides strong support for the development of the circular economy and ecological sustainability.

The project “Revolutionary Fast Sludge Drying Method” from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering earned the Silver Award in the QinChuangYuan Special Competition. It addresses challenges in sludge dehydration and removal of heavy metals and harmful bacteria, offering an innovative solution that dries sludge and utilizes dried sludge in just one hour. It holds significant potential for improving pollution control, reducing emissions, and advancing the “zero-waste city” initiative.
Jointly sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the China Association for Science and Technology, the All-China Students’ Federation, and Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, the competition attracted over 3 million students from more than 2,700 universities, with over 390,000 innovation and entrepreneurship projects submitted this year.
