On September 20,,2024 Yangtze River Delta International ShanghaiFashion Season (ISFS) and International Folk & Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Conference opened in Liantang Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai. The event, co-organized by Donghua University (DHU), Shanghai Fashion Accessories Society and some other institutions, served as one of the city-wide joint activities of World Design Cities Conference 2024. The participants included over 100 fashion institutions and enterprises from the Yangtze River Delta, relevant departments and associations, as well as representatives of teachers and students from design colleges across the country. They made collaborative efforts to promote the high-quality advance of fashion industry in the demonstration zone of integrated development.

Recent years, DHU has focused on deepening the integration between traditional culture and fashion design, cultivating actively new fashion techniques and business forms with “DHU features” as a way to empower discipline development and toplay its active part in developing Shanghai into a city of design, fashion and brands, as well as a pilot area to practice Xi Jinping Thought on Culture. Liantang Town, Qingpu District was ascertained as the venue of this event. The choice signifies the deep integration of Shanghai-styled fashion with water town customs and illustratesthe innovative experiment, exerted commonly by government, schools, and enterprises, to boost the development of fashion industry. DHU has carried out active interactions with the core areas of regional integration in various fields, including fashion design, industrial innovation, cultural creativity, and talent cultivation. Such cooperative efforts can help build a prosperous fashion industry, and can contribute strengths to serving regional socioeconomic development, as well as to cultivating new quality productive forces in the cultural field.

Based on the success achieved on 2023 ISFS with its four themes, such as Shanghai-styled Release, Shanghai-styled Forum, International Folklore, and Science and Technology Pioneer, the event this year has activated traditional genes by rooting deep in fashion culture. It is a well-designed platform, which integrates culture, fashion, technology, and brand, for display and exchange, with Shanghai Fashion Festival, Shanghai Fashion Brand Salon, along with various releases and exhibitions serving as specific means. The activity has facilitated the deep integration of Shanghai culture and international folklore, bringing the industry with a fashion feast where different ideas came across in strong visual impact.
