On December 4, President Jang Beomsik and his delegation from Soongsil University, accompanied by Vice President Park Juyoung, Kim Sungjoon, Secretary General Kim Dohyeon and related personnel from the International Affairs Office, paid a visit to Donghua University. President Yu Jianyong and Vice President Li Wei met with the delegation at Songjiang Campus. Relevant personnel from the International Cooperation Office, School of Computer Science and Technology, and International Cultural Exchange School attended the meeting.
Yu Jianyong welcomed the visit of Jang Beomsik and his delegation and introduced the university’s schooling history, disciplines, international cooperation and exchange practices, and international student education. He pointed out that we had formed distinctive disciplinary characteristics in more than 70 years of operation and made important contributions to China’s economic and social development. He said that it has been more than ten years since Donghua University and Soongsil University have come into collaboration for student communication and exchange, and there is a long-established bond between the two universities. He hoped that the forms of cooperation could be further enriched in the future for mutual learning and shared progress.
Jang Beomsik extended his gratitude for the warm reception of DHU and briefed the basic situation of Soongsil University. He said that as one of the earliest universities in Korea, Soongsil University has remarkable advantages in computer science, engineering, business and other disciplines. He expressed his appreciation for the achievements made by Donghua University in discipline construction under the “Double First-Class” initiative, and hoped that this visit would be an opportunity to expand the field of cooperation between the two universities, innovate the mode of cooperation, and realize mutual benefit and win-win situation.

The two sides carried out in-depth communication around their development blueprint, cooperation and exchanges and other matters. At the meeting, Yu Jianyong and Jang Beomsik signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and a student exchange agreement.

After the meeting, the delegation of Soongsil University toured the Achievement Showroom of State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials and Songjiang Campus of our university, and gained a deeper understanding of its progress in the construction of world-class academic disciplines and campus culture.
Soongsil University, located in Seoul, South Korea, is one of the earliest universities established in the country, and is also the first university in South Korea to establish the School of Computing, the School of Software and the School of Electronic Engineering. Previously, Donghua University and Soongsil University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation and started student exchanges in 2010.
