On September 26th, the official opening ceremony of the 2023 World Design Cities Conference (WDCC2023), sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Chinese National Committee for UNESCO, was held. Attending the opening ceremony were Liu Chenggong, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Donghua University, and Yu Jianyong, the President of Donghua University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. During the opening ceremony, Donghua University unveiled its Sustainable Fashion Strategic Initiative.

As one of the main organizers of the conference, Donghua University actively leveraged its disciplinary strengths in the field of design and participated extensively in the preparatory work for the conference. The university has provided essential support to this event and will host a series of activities, to contribute the “Power of Donghua” and the “Wisdom of Donghua” to the construction of Shanghai as the city of design and fashion.
