He Ping, graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, co-founded IFCE in Washington, D.C., in 1996 with 30 environmental experts, which is a significant force in promoting environmental communication between China and the U.S.. On the topic of “Environmental and Climate Challenges and China-US Cooperation,” He shared important environmental and climate events he had known and participated in, including international climate policy formulation, China-US cooperation on international climate agreements and low-carbon technologies, international and regionalcommunication, collaboration and challenges, and further development directions. He also highlighted the new progress in technology and environmental equipment upgrading between China and the U.S. and the series of environmental science popularization and education work by IFCE. Chinese and international students were welcomed to participate in the activities of environmental volunteers and researches and studies on environmental issues.

Over 60 international students joined this online forum. They were divided into six groups, and there were two Chinese students in each group to engage in communication. Students introduced the current environment and climate situation in their own countries and corresponding measures around the topic of “Environment and Climate” and looked forward to future cooperation and development. Based on examples like garbage sorting, shared bike and Alipay Ant Forest, Chinese students introduced local environmental practices. Each group selected one student to make a summary presentation. He Ping provided professional comments and suggestions for deep thinking.

The forum broadens the global vision of Chinese and international students in the field of environment and climate and enhances their ability to analyze international affairs from multiple perspectives. With students’ active participation and the interactive atmosphere, the forum is held successfully. It is one of the series of activities in response to the theme of 2023 Earth Day, “Earth4all.” In the future, students will practice the green concept of sustainable development through poster design, waste utilization and other activities.
