On 16 December, Donghua University held an online meeting with Coventry University, England. Yu Jianyong, President of Donghua University, and John Latham, Vice-Chancellor of the Coventry University, gave speeches respectively. Besides, the meeting was also attended by related personnel from the International Cooperation Office, the College of Fashion and Design, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, the Shanghai International Fashion Innovation Center, and the College of Information Science and Technology.
On behalf of Donghua University, President Yu firstly expressed his sincere gratitude to John Latham for sending genuine wishes to Donghua University at the 70th anniversary. He then introduced the history, international cooperation, and subject construction of DHU.
Meanwhile, President Yu highlighted the current situation of DHU’s development in art design and artificial intelligence.
He pointed out that the University attaches great importance to the concept of sustainability; DHU has been committed to cultivating high-quality and sustainable fashion innovators who are well versed in the whole-supply-chain process and possess socially conscious design thinking. In this way, DHU actively advocates the values of sustainable development in the cooperation of Government-Industry-University-Research.
At the same time, DHU also carried out active exploration and practice in artificial intelligence, such as setting up the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, carrying out projects at the national and provincial levels, setting up experimental classes of innovative talents in big data for industry and intelligent systems.
John Latham highlighted the basic situation of Coventry University and its 2030 Strategic Plan. He stated that Coventry University would cooperate globally to provide life-changing and socially promoting education, focusing on challenge-oriented interdisciplinary research and innovation.

Participants of the meeting focused on the possibility of cooperation in artificial intelligence and art design. During the meeting, both sides expressed the strong expectation that the two universities should establish a closer partnership and fully explore their similarities, finding more complementary points and cooperation opportunities to work together in the future.
Coventry University,with a history of 177 years, puts pedagogical innovation and applied research as its teaching priorities. It has School of Arts and Humanities, School of Engineering, Environment and Computing, and Business School, which is highly matches with DHU in subject setting.
