Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center Inaugurated and Established in DHU

On September 16, Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center, a comprehensive service platform for the copyright of Chinese traditional dress, was inaugurated and established in Donghua University. Xu Jiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, director of Shanghai Municipal Press and Publication Bureau, and director of Shanghai Municipal Copyright Bureau, and Yu Jianyong, president of Donghua University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the event and jointly unveiled the center. Heads of the Publicity Department of the Changning District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Copyright Administration Office of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National Base for Copyright Trade (Shanghai), the Shanghai Copyright Protection Association, Shanghai Fashion Accessories Society, and the relevant departments of DHU were present at the event. The event was hosted by Ding Bin, dean of the Institute of Science and Technology of DHU.


At the event, Xu Jiong read out the "Letter of Shanghai Municipal Copyright Bureau on Approving the Establishment of Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center in Donghua University." To further boost the prosperity and development of Shanghai's creative design and fashion industries, and bring into full play to the important incentive role of copyright in industrial development, after research, the Shanghai Municipal Copyright Bureau approved the establishment of Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center in Donghua University. The Center is the country’s first Hanfu copyright service platform. Its missions include strengthening the copyright protection of “Hanfu”, promoting the pooling of “Hanfu” resources, driving “Hanfu” IP innovation, and accelerating the synergy bwtween “cultural undertakings” and “cultural industries”, etc.



Yu Jianyong noted that the founding of "Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center" at Donghua University is not only an honor, but also a responsibility. DHU will actively connect with Shanghai’s “3+6” new industrial system, give full play to its resources and advantages in creative design, industrial services and talent training, deepen the integration of production and education, and strengthen the cooperation with the government, enterprises and brother universities to provide professional services such as copyright registration, right confirmation, and rights protection for modern Hanfu design, do some exploratory work in the integration of traditional Chinese Hanfu culture with new technology and new materials, achieve more cooperation and exchange results, and make contribution to Shanghai in building up the strengths in international intellectual property protection, and to the promotion of Chinese traditional culture.



Zhang Hong, President of Shanghai Copyright Protection Association, delivered a congratulatory speech. Jiang Zhiwei, director of the Shanghai International Fashion Innovation Center of DHU, introduced the idea behind Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center. Ding Bin, on behalf of the Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center, signed a strategic cooperation intention with representatives of the National Base for Copyright Trade (Shanghai), Informa Exhibition (Shanghai), Shanghai Fashion Accessories Society, and Shangchuanghui-Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base for College Students. Zhao Jing, director of the Copyright Administration Division of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Zhu Jianwei, deputy head of the Publicity Department of Changning District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Party Group of the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Changning District, granted copyright registration certificates for 54 past innovative designs of traditional Hanfu, including "Chu Guozhiyi", "Tang Dynasty Loose Sleeve Shirt", "Liao Dynasty Narrow Sleeve Robe", "Jin Dynasty Leftward Front Piece Gown" and "Ming Dynasty Bijia".


It is learnt that the Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center will actively promote the historical research of Chinese traditional dress such as Hanfu, "reproduce them" from museums and history books, and introduce clothing culture elements that are in line with modern civilization. Through academic seminars, design invitational competitions, creative design exhibitions, etc., it will gather original leading forces to build up strengths in Chinese traditional clothing design with global influence as well as launch of fashion trend and new product, to empower Shanghai to build a world-class "design city".
