2023 Summer Chinese Program
I. Why is the Summer Chinese Program in Donghua University the right choice for you?

Our classrooms are small, guaranteeing that teachers will have enough time to interact with each student and give you the best possible learning experience.
Courses are designed to improve your communication skills. You can practice oral skills through topical classroom discussions and other practical language activities. Well-designed language practice classes allows you to walk out of the classroom and exercise your Chinese communication skills in the real world.
The program integrates Chinese learning with forms of cultural expeditions and activities. These activities aim to deepen your understanding of Mandarin Chinese.
All Learning materials, as well as the assignments, will be uploaded to the learning management platform. You can review the course at any time, including the additional online course materials like keywords, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audio, course summaries, etc.
II. Program Details
1. Program Period
Session 1: July 10th, 2023- August 4th, 2023(4 weeks)
Session 2: August 7th, 2023- August 18th, 2023(2 weeks)
★ Remark: You can apply for both sessions together or only one of the sessions.
2. Application Deadline
Session 1: May 10th, 2023
Session 2: June 7th, 2023
★ Remark: If you are to apply for both sessions, the application deadline is May 10th.

Chinese Classes: Focus on enhancing your oral expressive abilities, combined with grammar explanation and topic discussion. Maximum 10 levels will be open, including Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced. You will be placed on the right level based on the online placement test result. (At least 8 students for each class).
Lecture / Workshop: Introduce China's customs and culture in variety and interesting format, such as Chinese character culture, Chine cuisine, Chine calligraphy, Chinese traditional medicine culture, making Chinese knots, etc.
Language Practice: You will leave the classroom, finish the assignments given by the teacher in the real scenes, such as super mall. These assignments will let you communicate with Chinese on the site, which will improve your communication skills efficiently.

* Remark: If you are studying in the Comprehensive Chinese Program in Spring 2023, and continue to apply for the summer program, your application fee will be waived and have no need to pay the insurance fee.
IV. Application
Age Eligibility: 16-60 years old
Application procedure:
1. Apply online via https://admissions.dhu.edu.cn/index with your personal information and the chosen language program;
-- Type of Program: "Full-time: General Chinese Language (A), Summer Chinese Program"
--> Program Category: "Vacation Program"
--> Program: "Offline Summer Program"
--> Term: "Summer 2023"
--> Course Time: Choose the course time you want. If you plan to study in both Session 1 and Session 2, please finish your application on Session 1 first, Then apply for Session 2 with the same steps.
2. Upload the required documents. Please ensure that all the documents are clear and visible. Required documents includes but not limited to.

3. University will review your application and contact you via email. Please pay the application fee following the instruction given by the email. Additional information may be required.
4. Wait for your admission result via email, which may take 2-4 weeks. In some cases, the review process may be longer due to the volume of the applications.
V. Others
Textbooks: Self-compiled textbooks "Chinese in Real Life" with online supplementary learning materials.
Visa: Documents for the student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application will be provided to the student case by case. Please consult the office for details.
Accommodation: Students can apply for campus accommodation, which will be arranged according to the situation. If the reservation is confirmed, please check in during the designated time as required. Please note that the ever-changing situation means that you may have to stay in off-campus accommodation. Please follow our official notice and the emails.
Insurance: Following the regulations from the Ministry of Education of China, and to better protect international students studying in China, international students are required to purchase insurance, of which the validity should be enough to cover one's study duration. Students studying in Donghua in offline programs should buy the designated insurance. For further information, please check our website for more details..
Refund:
Application fee: Non-refundable;
Tuition: Full refund: study terminated before instruction starts.
NO refund will be accepted when the instruction starts.
You will take a placement test to evaluate your Chinese level and assign to the right class based on the test result.
In the 1st week, you are allowed to change the class level within a specific timeframe.
