According to a recent standards bulletin of the State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration of China), the national standards GB/T 38010.3-2021 Spectacle frames and sunglasses electronic catalogue and identification — Part 3: Technical Information, GB/T 38010.2-2021 Spectacle frames and sunglasses electronic catalogue and identification — Part 2: Commercial Information and GB/T 40178-2021 Ophthalmic optics — Formerswhose development was led by DHU and the national standard GB/T 38575-2021 Spectacle frames — Screw threads whose development DHU participated in have been officially approved and issued. The implementation of these 4 national standards is under the centralized management of the Ophthalmic Optics Sub-Technical Committee of the National Optics and Photonics Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC103/SC3), which is supervised by the China National Light Industry Council.

The Secretariat of the Ophthalmic Optics Sub-Technical Committee of the National Optics and Photonics Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC103/SC3 for short) is located at Donghua University, and related tasks are undertaken by the Standards and Testing Center team of the Institute of Functional Materials, which is fully responsible for the centralized planning, coordination and technical steering of national and industry ophthalmic optics standards. At the same time, it is a counterpart to the ISO/TC172/SC7 Standardization Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization, actively playing the role and functions of a standardization organization, and keeping abreast of the technical developments, latest scientific and technological information and development trends in the field.
Following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on paying attention to the eye health of children and adolescents, and in response to the State Council’s notice on furthering standardization work, SAC/TC103/SC3 has continued to improve the standardization of glasses. The quality of eyewear products directly affects the wearer’s eye health. The newly developed national standards will further promote the unification and optimization of eyewear parts and formers, regulate the market, and have a positive influence on the upgrading of manufacturing capabilities and the development of the industry.
The issuance of the national standards has further enhanced DHU’s leadership in the development of national standards in the field of ophthalmic optics, and promoted the healthy development of the industry.
