On November 18, Clarivate Analytics announced the list of the Global Highly Cited Scientists in 2020, including 6,167 scientists from various fields and from more than 60 countries. Professor Shen Bo from the School of Information Science & Technology of DHU has been named on the list in the field of engineering for the sixth consecutive year since 2015. The number of highly-cited scientists or the number of ESI highly cited papers plays an important role in the evaluation of universities or disciplines at home and abroad. For the Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, both the number of highly cited scientists and the number of alumni and teachers winning Nobel Prize and Fields Medal are the important indicators to measure the academic influence of a university.

Shen Bo, born in January 1981, is the deputy dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Information Science & Technology of DHU, and the director of the Engineering Research of Center of Digitized Textile and Apparel Technology, Ministry of Education. He is mainly engaged in the research of stochastic nonlinear control, networked control system, sensor network, and complex network. He has been selected as the member of many talents schemes, such as the Outstanding Academic Leaders Program of Shanghai, the Shanghai Top Young Talent Program, the Shanghai Shuguang Program, and the Shanghai Rising-Star Program. He has published 1 monograph in English as the first author, and more than 70 SCI papers, with over 2,800 cites by the SCI. He has been in charge of over 10 projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Science Foundation Project, and the General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has won 1 second prize of the National Natural Science Award, 1 second prize of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award, and the Shanghai May Fourth Youth Medal. Currently, he serves as the director of the Chinese Society of Automation, the vice chairman of the Shanghai Society of Automation, the member of the professional committees of 8 national first-level societies, the senior member of IEEE, the associate editor of the IEEE CSS Conference Editorial Board (CEB), the editor of an international journal, and the associate editor or editorial board member of 8 international SCI journals.
It is learned that, the list of Global Highly Cited Scientists is published by Clarivate Analytics (formerly the “Intellectual Property and Science” business of Thomson Reuters). In the past ten years, every listed scientist has published many highly cited papers, and in terms of the frequency of citations, every listed scientist ranks in the top 1% of the same subject on the Web of Science™, demonstrating their important academic influence among their peers. In 2019, there was 636 people included on the list in Mainland China, and this year, the number has surged to 770.
