Supervision Intention Letter (SIL) signed by a Donghua University (DHU) supervisor is required as one of the application materials for doctoral degree program applications at DHU. Here we offer some tips on contacting your prospective supervisors to complete your postgraduate application more smoothly.
STEPS:
1. Read all guidance thoroughly, and familiarize yourself with the postgraduate research application process and deadline. Check the 2026 Doctoral Degree Programs List & Key Information; make sure that you're qualified to apply and, DHU offers the program you're interested in.
2. Check the 
2026 Research Directions & Faculties Information.pdf. Use the online translation or translation software in case you need to read in English.
3. Send Emails to DHU Professors:
1) With the information on the official website, you will find professors’ information, research directions and contact emails.
2) You are suggested to email the relevant documents that can prove your competence when contacting the professors, such as an introductory paragraph why you feel their expertise would be crucial to advance your intended research, your academic background, diploma or transcripts, CV, thesis, published articles, and a draft version of your research proposal you intend to use in your future study, etc.
3) Do write the email in the medium of instruction you apply for. Academics can receive many requests for supervision. It’s vital that you make your first impression count.
4. If the professor has the intention to be your future supervisor, you should download the template of Supervision Intention Letter (SIL)-D 2026.pdf, fill it out and sign it. Then give it to the professor for his/her signature. At the same time, this professor needs to sign on 
Cover of the Research Proposal 2026.docx (only for doctoral applicants). The date of the professor's signature should be after November 1st, 2025.
Note: Supervision Intention Letter (SIL) is only used as one of the application materials one should submit for online application to DHU, NOT DHU's official acceptance letter or admission document.
