From June 19 to 21, the 6th International Conference on Electrospinning (ELECTROSPIN 2019) was held at the Songjiang Campus of Donghua University (DHU). Chen Nanliang, Vice President of DHU, attended the opening ceremony. Presided over by Mo Xiumei, professor of College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology and Chairman of the Conference, the Conference gathered more than 380 experts, scholars, students and entrepreneurs from more than 150 universities, enterprises and research institutions in more than 20 countries and regions around the world.
It was the first time for the International Conference on Electrospinning to be held in China. The Conference focuses on 9 themes that cover almost all research hotspots in related fields, including “Applications of Electrospinning in Medicine and Biology”, “Smart Nanofibers and Multifunctional Materials”, “Nanofiber Sensors”, “Characterization of Nanofiber Materials”, “Electrospinning Technology”, “Nanofiber Catalyst”, “Applications of Nanofibers In Energy”, “Application of Nanofibers in Optoelectronic Field”, and “Application of Nanofiltration Materials”.
Chen Nanliang said in his speech that DHU has been attaching great importance to academic and cultural exchanges with other universities and colleges at home and abroad, and has established cooperation with over 100 universities and colleges worldwide. The Conference was a rare opportunity for exchanges and cooperation among experts and scholars within the industry. It was expected that the participants would make the best use of the opportunity to share latest research information and seek cooperation.

It was a great honor for DHU to obtain the hosting rights of the International Conference on Electrospinning in China, which also demonstrates the research strength of DHU in the field of electrospinning nanofibers. The Conference also attracted 14 high-tech enterprises to exhibit electrospinning equipment and products, which is beneficial to promoting the spread of new technologies and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, deepening international and domestic interdisciplinary exchanges and cooperation and enhancing the global influence of DHU in the field. The next International Conference on Electrospinning will be held in Malaysia in 2021.
