Date:2018-05-30

The 24rd International Young Designers Contest Admiralty Needle themed “Change, Transparency, Sparkle” was held in St Petersburg, Russia from April 25 to April 28. Students Wang Jiefei and Tang Wanhui from the Fashion • Art Design Institute of Donghua University (DHU) were awarded prizes respectively for their outstanding works.

Wang Jiefei’s work “Parallel Space” instructed by Associate Professor Zhou Honglei won the second place of the Diffusion Group. Illuminated by the 3D digital artwork “Was It Metaphysic” designed by Michele Durazzi, a visual artist from Florence, Italy, Wang created a super quiet atmosphere based on surrealism and minimalism to deliver a visual effect that interweaves reality and illusion. Tang Wanhui’s work “Spoiled Romance,” under the instruction of Professor Chenbin who also acted as a judge of the Contest, won the third place of Avant-garde Group, displaying a contrasting and unconventional romantic style. Inspired by the new romantic culture that originated in London underground in the 1960s, Tang’s work was particularly complimented by the Head of Daniel Hechter who offered her the internship funding.
