The “Chinese Traditional Culture Exhibition of Textiles and Embroidery” was opened in the Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume on April 24. Zhu Min, Party Secretary of Donghua University (DHU), Liu Chunhong, Vice President of Donghua University, famous collector Li Yulai, Zhang Qinghui, Chairman of the China Fashion Association, Tan Anci，Deputy Secretary-General of China National Garment Association, Professor Xia Yanjing of Nanjing University of the Arts, and renowned designer Chen Wen attended the ceremony. Bian Xiangyang, Director of Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Fashion and Curator of Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume, officiated the ceremony.

Zhu Min, on behalf of DHU, extended a warm welcome to the guests and as well as thanks to Mr. Li Yulai for contributing precious collections to this Exhibition. Zhu said, the “Chinese Traditional Culture Exhibition of Textiles and Embroidery” symbolizes cultural self-confidence and cultural responsibility, in which DHU bears the cultural responsibility to contribute to the inheritance and development of outstanding Chinese traditional culture. He again thanked Li Yulai for his support to the Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume over the past years and hoped that more collectors and artists will be involved in the construction of university museums, and jointly shoulder the mission and responsibility of inheriting and innovating the culture.

Li Yulai has repeatedly donated ancient embroidery products and looms to the Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume. To this, Liu Chunhong presented a donation certificate to Li Yulai.
According to Li, the 107 pieces of embroidery exhibitions presented this time were elaborately selected from thousands of embroidery collections, and are aimed to get more students and people closer to traditional embroidery and to know more about the long-standing traditional textile and embroidery culture.
Zhang Qinghui and Tan Anci delivered speeches respectively. Zhang expressed the hope that the museum will organize more such meaningful exhibitions to provide nutrients for college students, so as to cultivate more outstanding designers for China’s fashion industry. Tan hoped that the existing era pattern will be transformed through cultural self-confidence and cultural creativity, thus gradually forming a unique contemporary Chinese fashion culture and increasing the voice of China in the field of fashion.
