Student Liu Chunchen,majoring in Fashion and Accessory Design (Sino-Japan Program) of Fashion • Art Design Institute of Donghua University, won the Gold Award and Best Creative Award in the global finals of the 2018 REMIX on February 26. It was the Grand Prize of Women’s Wear in REMIX (Asia) in last November that qualifiedherfortheglobalfinals, inwhichshebecamethefirst Asia-borncompetitorhonored with the Gold Award.
Dedicated to young apparel and fur designers, REMIX has now reached its fifteenth edition organized with the support of Vogue Talents since 2004. The award-winningworks will be published in magazines Vogue Italia and Vogue.it.
Thisyear’s competition is themed with “From nature to nature” and requirescompetitors to exploretheconnectionbetweenfurdesignandnature. Liu Chunchen drewinspirationfromsnowmountains and mountaineering for her collections “Snow Peak,” the threesetsof which are derived from outdoorsportsequipment, i.e., jackets, climbing backpacks, skin windbreakers and sleeping bags, respectively, and aredetachableor deformable. Besides, the additionof DuPont paper, mesh, waterproof nylon and other functional materials as well as denim decolorizing technology enhances boththetextureandfashionsense, earninggreatacclaimfromthejury and audience.
