From April 13 to 16, two student delegations assigned by the College of Foreign Language of Donghua University respectively participated in the Asian International Model United Nations Conference 2017 (AIMUN2017) sponsored by the Peking University and the 3rd East Asian Model United Nations Conference2017 (EAMUN 2017) sponsored by the University of Macau, winning the highest awards – Best Delegation Awards.
Themed “Towards the Asian Community of Shared Future: Opportunities and Challenges ahead，” AIMUN 2017 aims to embrace the global vision from the Asian perspective. The Conference sets up 11 committees around 12 topics for discussion. DHU delegation comprises 5 people under 4 committees. In the English-speaking environment, DHU students took the initiative to express their thoughts in a clear and smooth way in terms of exploring resolutions for the topics. After the Conference, they proactively attended social activities to perceive multi-culture and assimilate into multicultural communication. It’s noteworthy that Cheng Si’ning was awarded with the Best Delegate by UNICEF due to her outstanding performance.
DHU delegation, under the guidance of CHONG Ten Wee, was fully prepared and performed positively during the conference, playing a key role in advancing the process. What’s more, the students played a leading role in the compilation of draft resolution. Finally, Li Qi and Huang Yi were honored with “Best Delegate” and “Best Position Paper” respectively.
This is the first time for DHU students to obtain the highest awards at AIMUN and EAMUN as well as the best results ever. The conferences have not only broadened the international vision of DHU students, but also enabled them to demonstrate their demeanor at the international conference, which promotes the communication with other domestic colleges and universities and lays a solid foundation for the upcoming 9th Donghua University Model United Nations in autumn.
