From November 30 to December 2, the “1st International Academic Conference for Researchers of Japanese Studies in East Asia” was held in Incheon, South Korea. Teachers from the Department of Japanese of Donghua University, i.e., Zhang Houquan, Sun Panhe, Wang Lei, Huang Jie and Sun Ruosheng, attended the conference upon invitation.
During the conference, the five teachers had an extensive exchange with experts and scholars from International Research Center for Japanese Studies, Seoul National University, National Taiwan University, Tamkang University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Ocean University of China and other universities and research institutions. The delivered a keynote speech themed “Enlightenment of Modern Chinese and Japanese Intellectuals – Focus on Fukuzawa Yukichi, Nishi Amane, Liang Qichao.” Professor Liu Jianhui, Deputy Director-General of International Research Center for Japanese Studies, and Professor Jin Fengzhen from the University of Kitakyushu proposed specific academic suggestions and guidance while highly affirming the research of Japanese studies in Donghua University.
Launched by Seoul National University, Beijing Center for Japanese Studies, International Research Center for Japanese Studies and Center for Japanese Studies of National Taiwan University, the “International Academic Conference for Researchers of Japanese Studies in East Asia” is aimed at enhancing the communication between researchers of Japanese studies as well as improving the academic quality of Japanese studies in East Asia. This time, the conference gathered over 200 researchers engaged in Japanese studies from 37 famous universities or research institutions. In future, it will be held in countries or regions in turn such as China, Japan and South Korea.
