The World of WearableArt was born in 1987 when the sculptor Suzie Moncrieff had an idea to promote a rural art gallery, taking art off the wall and wearing it on to the stage, thereby creating a new genre of performance. Best described as a glorious rebellion against the mundane, the World of WearableArt is held in Wellington between the end of September and early October every year and has been an annual international event for the circle of innovative fashion.
