DHU Team Won Second Place in the National Final of “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China”

   From September 18 to 20, the national final of 2nd “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China” sponsored by the Ministry of Education came to the end at Yangzhou University, during which the team of Donghua University ranked 2nd while Harbin Institute of Technology and Shandong University respectively ranked 1st and 3rd. Jin Haiyan, the Deputy Party Secretary of DHU went to the final site to pay a visit while Vice President Liu Chunhong guided the preparations.

  The DHU team, organized by International Cultural Exchange School and Sports Department in April, is composed of 8 overseas students from Lithuania, Cameroon, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Burundi and Kazakhstan and 2 Chinese students. In early May, teams from DHU, Shanghai University of Sport and Shanghai Jiaotong University ranked top three in the Shanghai audition, qualifying for the competition of SE Division. In late May, DHU team ranked 1st in 3-on-3 Basketball Game, 1st in Orienteering and 1st in the total score, so as to successfully enter the national final. In the Mid August, the instructors and students ended their summer holiday in advance and returned to the campus for training. In the national final, the DHU team ranked 2nd in Sports Art Display, 2nd in 3-on-3 Basketball Game and 7th in Orienteering, obtaining the second prize and displaying sound team spirit, competitive level and artistic attainments.

  It is learnt that the “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China” sponsored by the Ministry of Education is a brand program for overseas students’ activities in China. In the final, altogether 128 overseas students from 16 university teams participated in the three matches of sports art display, 3-on-3 basketball game and orienteering. Donghua University has always attached great importance to the education of overseas students in the 62 years’ cultivation of overseas students by, e.g., actively building platforms for mutual learning and mutual assistance between Chinese and foreign students and establishing culture and sport clubs for overseas students such as art troupe, chorus and street dance club, due to which the students have performed quite well in various competitions.
