On June 5, teams from 32 Shanghai universities, including Donghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, etc., gathered at East China University of Science and Technology to compete in the 9th Shanghai’s international students’ dragon boat race. After a fierce competition, international students from DHU were awarded the 3rd prize.
DHU team comprises 27 international students from 19 countries including Kazakhstan, Chile, Russia, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, etc. The event includes preliminary and finals. In the preliminary where the 32 teams were divided into 8 groups, DHU ranked 7th in the 200m time trial and qualified for the finals. In the final, they fought hard with cool composure and high morale, earning the 3rd prize for the 4th place from the result of 58”68.
The dragon boat race enables the international students from Donghua University to better understand the traditional Chinese culture and experience its infinite charm personally. In recent years, Donghua University has strengthened the Chinese culture education for international students by means of second classroom education, traditional cultural festival education, intercultural communication between Chinese and foreign students, establishment of clubs such as dragon boat team and table tennis team, operas into campuses, etc., aiming to render them more fond of China and become the friendship envoys who “know China, love China.”
