Recently, DHU team has earned a 3rd-place trophy of University Group at the 2016 Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals held at Iowa State University, which attracted over 800 teams worldwide to compete.
Led by Pang bingliang, a teacher from the College of Foreign Languages, the DHU team of 6 girls won the championship of Performance Group at China’s contest of Odyssey of the Mind in February, qualifying for the world finals. The team members shared their mixed feelings about the several months’ preparation for the finals. They often stayed up all night to brainstorm and make props together. Hao Danyang from the Textile Department said with pride that every girl from Donghua embraces a dream to display her own works at the international stage; thanks to OM, she could realize the dream earlier than the peers.
It is known that Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving competition. It takes the competitors’ capacity of innovation as the primary appraisal criterion, requiring them to present the team’s creativity and problem-solving ability through actions, languages, performances and teamwork.
