DHU Team Won SE Division for “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China”

    From May 19 to May 20, the Southeast Division for the 2nd “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China” was held at Yangzhou University. 24 teams from Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Shandong and Shanghai competed fiercely in three events, i.e., Sports Art Display, 3-on-3 Basketball Game and Orienteering. The three teams of Shanghai are from Donghua University (DHU), Shanghai University of Sport and Shanghai Jiao Tong University respectively. After three days of fierce competition, our DHU team ranked 7th in Sports Art Display, 1st in 3-on-3 Basketball Game and 1st in Orienteering, winning the team title, so as to successfully enter the national final to be held in Guizhou.

    DHU team, established by International Cultural Exchange School and Sports Department in April, is composed of 8 overseas students from Lithuania, Cameroon, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Burundi and Kazakhstan as well as 2 Chinese students. On May 6 and 7, DHU team participated in the Shanghai audition held by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and ranked 2nd out of the 12 teams, thus qualifying for the competition of SE Division.

     

    The “Sports & Culture Competition for Overseas Students in China” is a brand project that complies with the Outline of the National Plan for Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development and Study Plan in China. This year is the 2nd competition, which consists of auditions, divisions and final from April to August. Adhering to the philosophy of “Promote Culture through Sports, Team Cooperation, Chinese-Foreign Integration,” the event fully displays the enterprising spirit of overseas students in China, and enables them to fully perceive China’s natural geology and social culture as well as feel the development of beautiful China. It advocates teamwork, exchange and integration between Chinese and foreign youth, and enables them to better understand each other, thus enhancing mutual friendship and harmony.
