On May 10, Vice President Liu Chunhongmet with Miguel Angel Sotelo Vazquez, Vice President of University of Alcalá (UAH), and Rafael Martín Rodríguez, Chief of Asian Affairs Office of UAH, at the Yan’an Road campus. Relevant official from the International Cooperation Office also attended the meeting.
Liu Chunhong extended a warm welcome to Prof. Miguel and his delegation. She introduced the general situation of DHU as well as the progress of international cooperation. Migel indicated that the UAH hopes to cooperate with high-quality Chinese universities and is committed to promoting the mutual visit and exchange between teachers and doctoral candidates from UAH and DHU.
After the meeting, Migul visited the modern collections and new designers’ exhibition at the Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume, highly appraising the achievement made by DHU in fashion design.
The University of Alcalá is a public university located in Alcalá de Henares, a city 30 km from Madrid, a UNESCO world heritage site and the hometown of Cervantes. In 1499, Cardinal Cisneros expanded the institution’s studies with the creation of a Higher College, which would later become the University of Alcalá, one of the first examples of a model university town. Today the University of Alcalá is a comprehensive institution characterized by its engineering disciplines as well as Spanish language and culture.
