“Space Power” International Art Exhibition for works of artists and designers from China, Japan and Australia was held at Yan’an Road campus from April 26 to May 7. Co-hosted by Fashion • Art Design Institute of DHU and Shanghai Art & Design Academy, the exhibition displays the works of 48 artists and designers from domestic and overseas institutes such as Donghua University, Shanghai Art & Design Academy, Beijing Film Academy, China Academy of Art, Kyoto City University of Arts and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, which were presented in the form of oil painting, printmaking, watercolor, photograph, sculpture, ink painting, image, etc.
Liu Chunhong, Vice President of DHU, Yuan Menghong, Member of the Standing Committee of DHU, Cang Ping, Vice President of Shanghai Art & Design Academy and Li Jun, Dean of Fashion • Art Design Institute along with domestic and overseas artists attended the opening ceremony. Liu Chunhong extended a warm welcome to the artists and designers present at the ceremony, and indicated that this exhibition is not only a beneficial trial for cross-border cooperation, but a demonstration of the research results of Shanghai Fashion Art Research Center. It injects new vitality to the development of cross-border art and design while serving as a platform for artists and designers to show their talents.
According to Cang Ping, Shanghai Art & Design Academy has, in recent years, attached great importance to the combination of traditional arts and modern design to promote the integration of business, technology, life, art and some other fields. Li Jun expected that there will be more multi-level cooperation and exchange with other universities and academies. Fan Zhongming, an independent artist and curator, believed that the exhibition enables artists, designers and sculptors to interact with each other by virtue of different forms of art and artistic ideas. In addition, artists from Japan and Australia expressed their thanks and hoped that there will be more opportunities for sharing and learning the experience of art and design.
It is introduced that the theme of the exhibition is “Space Power,” which symbolizes that every artist has a space language to express the artistic idea. The convergence of works of various artists and designers create a powerful art space, stimulating the fusion and exchange of diverse art forms and artistic ideas of various nations and realizing the continuous leaping development of creations and creative ideas as well.
