Recently, the China National Inspection & Testing Center for Ophthalmic Optic Glass and Enamel Products (hereinafter referred to as “Center”) of DHU signed the 2016-2017 strategic cooperation framework agreement with EssilorInternational, a renewal of 2015-2016 framework agreement between the two parties.
On the signing ceremony, Director Jiang Weizhong, on behalf of the Center, signed the cooperation agreement with the Head of Essilor, and made a progress report on the new project of ISO/TC172/SC7,i.e., Ophthalmic Optics – Uncut Spectacles Lenses – Part X: Specification and Test Methods of Express Parameters. Then Executive Deputy Director Sun Huanbao introduced the 2015-2016 annual work of the Center, including Chinese Spectacles Standard Formulation (Revision), 2015 Shanghai 27th Plenary Session of ISO/TC172/SC7, compilation of Chinese national standards of spectacles, scientific research projects, technical training & communication and as well as future outlook.
As the leading enterprise in the optical industry, Essilor’s activities are largely focused on production and sales of high-quality ophthalmic lenses. It has 22 lens production plants, 16 distribution centers, over 400 customized garages and 4 innovative science and technology R&D centers. Since the establishment of the first Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2015, the Center and Essilor have carried out the cooperation in several fields such as technical exchange, standard collaboration, personnel training and project research, which has made positive progress. According to the agreement signed this time, the two sides will further enhance the cooperation in technical personnel exchange, research projects and standard formulation in the future.
After the completion of friendly exchange with Essilor, officials of the Center visited the headquarters of Carl Zeiss AG, the world-known German manufacturer of optical systems. They visited several production sites of optical products, optical museum and research center. Besides, the two sides made an exchange concerning the work of the joint lab co-found by the Testing Laboratory of DHU and Carl Zeiss. Sun Huanbao introduced the lab’s progress during the two years since its establishment, and hoped that Carl Zeiss will support the new project proposal of ISO/TC172/SC7 and positively join the Chinese spectacles standard formulation (revision) as well as the compilation of the English version of China national standards and industry standards, etc. Sun also looked forwarded that the two sides will enhance technical personnel exchange and send technicians for short mutual visit. Furthermore, the two sidesdiscussed the new cooperation and agreed on the holding of China-France-Germany optical technology forum where appropriate, further promotion of scientific researchcooperation, joint publishing of essays as well as deep cooperation in technical personnel training.
China National Inspection & Testing Center for Ophthalmic Optics Glass and Enamel Products is the first batch of national centers of checking on product quality authorized by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in 1987 and also the sole national quality inspection center for ophthalmic optics glass and enamel products. The daily operation of the Center is predominated by Donghua University.
