Piano Team of Students Art Troupe Won Awards at the Sixth Hong Kong International Piano Invitation Competition

Recently, the Piano Team of Students Art Troupe left for HK to attend the Sixth Hong Kong (2016) International Piano Invitation Competition. After a fierce rivalry, Chen Shiqi from College of Humanities and Guo Xiaoyan from College of Textiles won the second prize of the Senior-Group Piano Duet Competition, and Wu Xiaoding from College of Foreign Languages won the Youth-Group Solo Elite Award.

  

The competition boasts a strong jury lineup, composed of distinguished pianists from countries and regions such as USA, Russia, South Korea, the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao. The preliminary contests were held at sub-fields respectively in November, 2015. Only those who qualified for the final would be invited to participate in the HK final.

  

As a major event sponsored by Asia Musicians Association, the Hong Kong International Piano Invitation Competition has become one of the most authoritative professional piano competitions in East Asia. The event offers the players an opportunity to learn from each other and a stage to show themselves, hoping to find out the future piano star in Asia.

  

Under the guidance of Zheng Qinghua and Yuan Weiming from the DHU Art Education Center, the Piano Team of Students Art Troupe has taken part in domestic piano competitions as well as won the first prize multiple times. The participation in Hong Kong (2016) International Piano Invitation Competition symbolizes the first step for the team to set foot on the world arena.
