In the event of 31st Teacher’s day, original drama “Qian Baojun” premiered on September 7th in Jin Xiu Hall. It was guided by the Party Committee of Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Commission along with Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and was performed by teachers and students of Dong Hua University. On September 8th, it will be staged to the public in the celebration events for Teacher’s Day.
The drama was based on the real stories of Qian Baojun, a famous fiber scientist and educator of China. It was a picture showing how Qian Baojun was dedicated to scientific research and education yet was indifferent to fame and wealth, eulogizing the masters of his generation spending their whole life to fulfill the dream of great textile nation as well as expressing his deep love to China, education, teachers and students, and family members.
Qian Baojun was the founder of China’s fiber polymer science and the winner of China’s first Engineering Science and Technology Award. He served as the dean of East China Institute of Textile Science and Technology as well as the honorary President of China Textile University (the former of Dong Hua University). In the time of establishment and development of new-born China, Qian Baojun resolutely returned home from UK devoting himself in the establishment of East China Institute of Textile Science and Technology. He led the team successfully synthesizing suitable clothing materials, set a forward schedule of fiber research, mentored youth teachers and students and donated life savings to education and scientific research.
