Date:2023-11-15

Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Postdoctoral Management Committee officially issued the “Notice on the Approval of the Establishment of 510 Postdoctoral Research Stations, Including Philosophy, at Northeast Normal University” (Letter No. 8 of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security [2023]), announcing the list of newly approved postdoctoral research stations for the year 2023. Donghua University’s discipline of Management Science and Engineering was found on the list.

The postdoctoral research station of Management Science and Engineering is the first postdoctoral research station approved to be established in Donghua University in the field of humanities and social sciences. This signifies that our university’s management discipline has established a comprehensive system for the cultivation of talents at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, as well as postdoctoral researchers. This development is conducive to building a talent hub for management, creating a gathering effect for high-end management and innovation talents, promoting the training of innovative young talents at a higher level, and further advancing the development of the university and its colleges in talent cultivation, scientific research, and disciplinary construction.

The discipline of Management Science and Engineering obtained the doctoral degree-granting authority in the field of Management Science and Engineering in 2003. As early as 1959, the discipline established the undergraduate major in Industrial Management Engineering, followed by the setup of the master’s program in Management Engineering in 1982, the master’s program in Management Information Systems in 1995, and the adjustment to the “Management Science and Engineering” master’s program according to the new discipline catalog in 1997. In 1996 and 2002, the doctoral research directions of “Economic Control and Development” and “Intelligent Decision Systems and Knowledge Management” were respectively established to enroll doctoral students. At the same time, this discipline is also affiliated with our university’s “Control Theory and Control Engineering” and “Textile Science and Engineering” postdoctoral research stations, and has successively recruited 10 postdoctoral researchers.

This discipline, leveraging our university’s strengths in textile, clothing, and fashion-related disciplines and bringing in modern management theories, information technology, and creative management methods, has formed a distinctive interdisciplinary advantage that combines management, engineering, and art. With a focus on areas such as textile and clothing supply chain management, fashion supply chain management in the internet environment, intelligent manufacturing and logistics optimization scheduling, big data decision optimization, shared economy service operation decisions, e-commerce virtual clothing experience service management, rapid response and collaborative management of textile and clothing supply chains, creative industry cluster value chains, industrial engineering management in clothing, and fashion creative management, it has achieved rich research results. The discipline is at the forefront of research in the domestic textile and clothing industry and has reached the research level of similar disciplines in foreign universities, gaining considerable influence domestically. In the past five years, this discipline has undertaken nearly 200 national, provincial, ministerial, and enterprise-sponsored projects.
