DHU Alumnus Dr. Wu Dongfang Elected the Youngest Member of RAE

On April 21, 2022, DHU alumnus Dr. Wu Dongfang received a congratulatory letter from Prof. B.V. Gusev, President of the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE), congratulating him on his election as a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering and hoping that he will make more innovative and influential contributions to promoting Sino-Russia scientific and technological cooperation and development.

Dr. Wu Dongfangis a graduate alumnus of the Class of 1996 of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering of DHU. His great interest in scientific research was revealed during his university years. As a researcher-level senior engineer, he has long been devoted to the development and industrialization of distributed intelligent networking technology, which is widely applied in the digital economy, the internet of things, smart city and other important technical fields and places.


As the first inventor or designer, he has authorized more than 200 invention patents, utility model patents, software copyrights, and integrated circuit layout designs in recent years. As the project leader, he has presided over more than 30 science and technology projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, provinces and municipalities level. As the first completer, he has won 2 first-class, 5 second-class and 4 third-class prizes of provincial and ministerial awards and science and technology awards established by social forces. He has published many papers in reknowned international journals such as “Remote Sensing, Optics Communications, and “Crystals, etc. His products have been awarded the Gold Medal of International Exhibition of Inventions in Nuremberg, Germany, Pittsburgh, USA, and Geneva, Switzerland. Besides, his technical projects have won many domestic competitions.

He has been selected as a member of the World Academy of Productivity Science, a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a foreign member of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering Sciences, a National Outstanding Person of Advanced Productivity, the Person of the Year of Scientific Chinese - Outstanding Young Scientist, the China Creative Founder Award - Personality Award, the Shanghai Top Ten Young Scientific and Technological Talents (Shanghai Science and Technology Youth Award), the Top Ten Young Shanghai Entrepreneurs, and other honors.


Founded in 1990, the Russian Academy of Engineering, formerly known as the Soviet Academy of Engineering, is an inter-industrial scientific institution jointly established by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Ministry of Science, Technology and Industry, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency. It was granted the consultative status with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in 1993 and listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as one of the expert organizations for new technologies in Central and Eastern Europe in 1997. It currently has more than 1500 academicians, more than 100 of whom are foreign academicians.
