The New Year has begun. Let’s move forward! On January 17, the 23rd of the last month in lunar calendar, Donghua Restaurant at Yan’an Road Campus of DHU was decorated with lanterns and colored hangings, creating a happy and peaceful atmosphere. Party Secretary Liu Chenggong, President Yu Jianyong, Deputy Party Secretaries Liu Shuhui and Cui Yunhua, and Vice Presidents Qiu Gao, Qing Fengling, Chen Nanliang and Shu Huisheng, as well as more than 600 teachers and students who did not go home jointly celebrated the Chinese New Year of Gengzi. Heads of various departments and colleges, and teacher representatives also attended the party.

At the party, Liu Chenggong offered new year blessings to all the students, teachers and staff. He said that 2019 was an unforgettable year for us. DHU students confided their love to the motherland in the name of youth and celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, which demonstrated the young generation’s ambition to serve their motherland and to work together to realize the Chinese dream. We have carried out in-depth educational activities themed on “never forget the original intention and remember the mission”, and made advances with united efforts, demonstrating our firm confidence and determination in educating people for the party and the country. In the new year, standing at the historical intersection of the “two centenary goals”, we will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, based on the fundamental mission of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, formulate and promote the implementation of the action plan of “Striving, Donghua”, fulfill the original aspiration and mission, and write a new chapter in the process of promoting the high-quality and connotative development of the University.

In the speech, Yu Jianyong expressed his thanks to everyone for their contributions to the development of the University in the past year. He said that at this very important moment, looking back on the year 2019 we had gone through together, during which time we grandly celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the morale of Chinese people has been greatly improved. In 2019, the school has made a series of progress and breakthroughs in personnel training, scientific research, social services, cultural heritage and innovation, international cooperation and exchange. All the teachers earnestly have fulfilled their mission of teaching and educating people. Donghua students have striven to be better in the past year, realizing their comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education. This year is the final year of a decisive victory in building a well-off society in all respects and the last year of the 13th five-year plan, as well as a year for DHU to continue to forge ahead. He hoped that all Donghua people would work harder in the new year, be united as one, be able to face up to difficulties and seize every minute they spend.
