DHU Students Win Gold Medal of the 1st “New Fabric” Innovative Design Competition in Yangtze River Delta

On November 6, the first “New Fabric” Innovative Design Competition in Yangtze River Delta, hosted by the Administrative Committee of Yuhang Economic and Technological Development Zone, undertaken by the Zhejiang Home Textile Industry Innovation Service Complex, under the guidance of China Home Textile Industry Association, was held in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. After fierce competition in the early stage, the project “Hardcore homesickness-digital automatic home textile product generation design” by Miao Yuxin, Xu Chengrui and other students of the Fashion & Art Design School, under the guidance of Associate Professor Tian Yujing of the Product Design Department of the Fashion & Art Design School, won the gold medal of University Group in the final. This competition is also an important manifestation of the implementation of scientific and technological innovation cooperation, design transformation, deepening cooperation among government, universities enterprises after the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between DHU and Yuhang District.

This competition covers original home textile design products and derivatives with independent intellectual property rights, as well as innovative design products related to new materials, new technologies and new processes. The project “Hardcore homesickness-digital automatic home textile product generation design” by Miao Yuxin, Xu Chengrui, He Xinyue, Shao Xiao, Wang Jinyu of DHU has been acknowledged by the jury of experts with its theme-oriented design plan, complete explanation in the question-and-answer session and unique business ideas, finally winning the highest award.

The series of works focus on the pessimistic emotion of future generations, depict a nostalgic picture of punkism in the inner world of young people; based on a set of artificial intelligence digital automatic home textile product generation system, the customized home textile pattern designs can be automatically, quickly and unlimitedly produced. Its use of bold and diversified color reveals a strong modern atmosphere; from fabric patterns to color shading, the two-dimensional effect extends to the three-dimensional space; cultural and technological elements are harmoniously reflected on the fabric. These creative and eye-catching design works have activated new fashions and awaken the cultural beliefs and consumer confidence of consumers in the post-epidemic era.
