A runway show, which is titled “Classics and Rebirth of Shanghai-style Cheongsams, was staged as a gift imbued with the charm of Shanghai for the 20th anniversary of the return of Macau.         The show consists of four series of Shanghai-style cheongsams,namely, traditional classic cheongsams, ceremonial cheongsams, business cheongsams and technological cheongsams. The business cheongsams are selected works designed and produced by Donghua University and Shanghai Fashion Accessories Society in collaboration with high-end cheongsam customization enterprises in Shanghai and other cities in the Yangtze River Delta as well as cheongsam brands in recent years. Their design integrates ancient Chinese philosophies about five elements, namely, metal, wood, water, fire and earth, exploring future fashion with eastern aesthetic. The technological cheongsams include two series, luminescence and deformation, which are the designed by Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation, College of Materials Science and Engineering, and School of Fashion and Art Design and have been exhibited at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2018 and 2019. The cross-disciplinary use of zinc sulfide nanometer powder isolychn and nanometer deformable film in fashion design shows innovative thinking that combines technology and fashion. It is worth mentioning that the “Flower Fairy” cheongsam, which has debuted at the Shanghai Float on the 70th anniversary of the National Day, appeared to the music My Motherland and Me, echoing the theme of celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the return of Macau in the 1st Shanghai-Macao Theme Week.
