The 3Rs Fashion Shoes Design Competition, co-sponsored by Global Sources and the Federation of HK Footwear Ltd., was concluded recently. The competition gathered young designers who incorporated the concept of 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) into their creative design. He Xinyue, an undergraduate student from the Fashion • Art Design Institute, won the gold prize for her work “Withered Trees Revive”.

Under the guidance of Teacher Tian Yujing, students He Xinyue, Xu Chengrui, Shao Xiao, Chen Lingtong, etc. from the Product Design Department of the Fashion • Art Design Institute attended the competition, during which they put what they had learnt from the course of “Footwear Design and Technology” into practice, and had their design works shortlisted after the primary election through online and on-site voting. Eventually, through exhibitions and catwalks, He Xinyue emerged victorious with her “Withered Trees Revive”, which highlights theme-oriented design concept and artistic performance.

Centering around “sustainable development, energy and environmental protection and featuring innovative, practical, environmentally friendly and fashionable design, the competition adopts 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) as the design theme, aiming to inspire young footwear designers to think about sustainable design in the industry.
