China-Japan-Korea The 3rd A3 Foresight Symposium was held in DHU

Date:2019-10-15

On October 10th, the third “A3 Foresight Symposium Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Platform Construction and Tumor Precision Imaging and Treatment” was hosted by Donghua University, coordinated by the State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials(SKLFPM), the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and the Shanghai Society of Biophysis. Vice President Chen Nanliang attended the meeting, along with more than 100 famous experts, scholars, university students and business representatives from China, Japan, South Korea and France.

China-Japan-Korea Asia 3 Foresight Program (abbreviated as A3 Foresight Program) is a joint research project established by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JPRS) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF, formerly KOSEF). The purpose of the Asia 3 Foresight Program is to fund scientists from China, Japan and Korea to jointly conduct world-class collaborative research in selected strategic areas, and thus cultivate outstanding scientific and technological talents and jointly solve regional problems, and promote Asia to become an influential scientific research center in the world. In 2017, the project called Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Platform Construction and Tumor Precision Imaging and Treatment applied by Professor Shi Xiangyang of Donghua University, as the chief scientist of China, and the academician Jin-Ho Choy of the Dankook University in Korea and Professor Katsuaki Suganuma of Osaka University of Japan has gained the grants from the NFSC, which is the first time that Donghua has been involved in a Asia 3 Foresight Program.

At the opening ceremony, on behalf of Donghua University, Chen Nanliang, welcomed the experts and scholars, briefly introduced the basic situation of Donghua, and expressed the hope to continue to strengthen international scientific research cooperation and jointly promote the development of related fields in virtue of the Asia 3 Foresight Program.

Zhao Mingxi, Director of the International Cooperation Division, said that the University attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, hoping to have in-depth discussion with experts at the conference and jointly cultivate international talents in the future. Shi Xiangyang introduced the basic situation of the college, the research progress of the A3 project, and reviewed the first two seminars held at Osaka University in Japan and Ewha Women's University in Korea.

During the conference, Professor Chen Xuesi from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Ji Jian from Zhejiang University, Professor Liu Zhuang from Suzhou University, Professor Cui Daxiang from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Gao Mingyuan from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xie Wei from Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Liu Yong from Shanghai General Hospital introduced the latest research progress of nanomaterials in the field of precision treatment of tumors. Scholars like Jin-Ho Choy of Korea University of Korea and Professor Jae-Min Oh of Dongguk University showed the application of layered dihydroxide in chemotherapy and boron neutron capture therapy. Professor Atsushi Takahara of Kyushu University, Professor Hiroyuki Nakamura of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Professor Tetsu Yonezawa of Hokkaido University, Osaka University Prof. Toru Sekino introduced the synthesis and structural control of several functional inorganic nanomaterials. The conference also invited the academician Serge Mignani of the Paris Descartes University, and the academician of the French National Academy of Sciences, Jean Pierre, to share their latest research results.

The conference set up poster presentations and student report and exchanges, and rewarded 6 outstanding posters. The winners included two Ph.D. students from the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.
