DHU Speaks at the 3rd International Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative & Global Governance

Recently, the 3rd International Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative & Global Governance was held in Shanghai. The forum was co-hosted by Fudan University and Silk Road Think Tank Association of International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Chenggong Liu, secretary of the Party Committee of DHU, and vice president Nanliang Chen were invited to attend the forum. Before the opening ceremony, Chenggong Liu had an exchange with Yang Jiao, secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University and other relevant leaders. 

 

Nanliang Chen gave a high-level round table speech titled “the Exploration and Practice of Donghua University for the Belt and Road Initiative”. Starting from the transformation and development of China's textile industry, he expressed that DHU had always been grasping the opportunities for development, and introduced in detail the practice and achievements of DHU in cultivating talents for “the Belt and Road Initiative”, in textile academic exchanges, in textile technology cooperation and in people-to-people exchanges on fashion. He said that in recent years, DHU had made positive contributions to the cooperation of the Belt and Road textile industry, and the promotion of people-to-people exchanges among China and the countries along “the Belt and Road” by organizing a senior seminar on the Belt and Road for textile industry, holding the Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textile and Apparel, leading the establishment of the Belt and Road World Textile University Alliance, building “the Belt and Road” International Laboratory, promoting textile universities to carry out “the Belt and Road” scientific research, organizing the Belt and Road Fashion Day and participating in Edinburgh Art Festival, and many other measures.

 

      

    The theme of this forum is “Jointly Building Belt and Road: From Initiative to Practices”. More than 200 experts and scholars from 30 countries and regions and more than 300 observers from all over the country participated in the forum. Henry Tillman, chairman and chief executive officer of Grisons Peak Investment Bank, William Overholt, senior researcher of Kennedy School, Harvard University, Jusuf Wanandi, vice chairman of the board of Center for Strategic and International Studies in Indonesia, Shinnto Eiichi, president of International Association of Asian communities and chief representative of “the Belt and Road” Japanese Research Center, Shizhuang Yang, vice governor of people's government of Dehong County, Yunnan Province, and other guests at home and abroad delivered speeches at the round table meeting.
