2019 International Symposium of Modern Textile Science and Engineering held in DHU

Sponsored by Donghua University and organized by the College of Textiles and the Key Laboratory of Textile Science & Technology, the “2019 International Symposium of Modern Textile Science and Engineering” was held on the Songjiang Campus of Donghua University (DHU) on July 9. A total of more than 200 people participated in the symposium, including officials from the International Cooperation Office and the College of Textiles, guests and teachers and students of the Summer School.

  

  

Gu Bohong, Dean of the College of Textiles, first extended thanks and welcome to experts and scholars and then expressed the hope that the symposium would promote exchanges in the field of textile science and inject new vitality into the development of advanced textile technology. According to Zhao Mingwei, Director of the International Cooperation Office, the participants would integrate the progress of textile science in different universities and share the cutting-edge research results. It was hoped that the participants would feel the charm of textile science and the symposium would promote international academic exchanges.

Dean Gu Bohong, Martin W. King and Tushar K. Ghosh, Professors of North Carolina State University, and Hao Fong, Professor of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, delivered reports.

In the afternoon, experts and scholars from universities in 6 countries delivered wonderful thematic reports respectively.

  

  

    In the venue of “Innovative Textile Materials”, Professor Roohollah Bagherzadeh from Amirkabir University of Technology, Professor Paul Wambua from Moi University in Kenya, and teachers including Li Chaojing, Zhang Wei and Wang Liming from Donghua University introduced the most advanced research on clean energy, bio-textiles and wearable thermoelectric materials respectively. After that, the professors and students had extensive discussions.

  

  

    In the venue of “Textile Processing Technology”, Professor Xu Bugao from the University of North Texas, Professor Shen Jinsong and Professor Shahrukh MAJIDOV from the De Montfort University, and lecturers Quan Zhenzhen and Liu Li from DHU introduced the research in image detection, bio-enzyme technology, and the joint construction related to the Belt and Road, which enabled the students to broaden their horizons and grasp the latest applications of textiles in different fields.

This symposium is of positive significance as it creates an opportunity for academic discussion and exchanges between textile experts, young scholars and graduate students, motivates the development of modern textile science and engineering, while providing ideas and directions for innovation and breakthrough in textiles.
