Date:2019-06-26

Recently, the outstanding works of more than a thousand students from 38 fashion design colleges in the UK were shown in the Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) in London. Fan Sixuan, a graduate with a major in Creative Fashion Design jointly trained by Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation (SCF) and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), brought her works to GFW and won two awards, namely GFW Women's Wear Award and David Brand Textile Design Award.

Inspired by the style of flying suits in the early 1920s, Fan’s work uses silicone materials and laser cutting technology to create linear texture patterns on the fabric surface, expressing the reflection on city environmental changes. “It’s my great honor to win the awards, which is of great significance to me. I’m more determined to become a fashion designer. My focus on design details greatly contributes to my award winning,” she said. She kept perfecting her works from last September to the last night before the show. Previously, she won the design award at the UK Michael Kors (MK) Competition and hence obtained the opportunity for internship at the New York headquarters of MK.

The SCF attaches great importance on cultivating students’ unique perspectives in researching and creating graduation design works, and enhancing students’ capabilities in perceiving the society and independent research. In the just-concluded celebration of the 5th anniversary of the cooperation between Donghua University and the University of Edinburgh, SCF further clarifies the stand to strengthen cooperation with complementary advantages, propelling the cultivation of first-class fashion and creative talents.
