July 6th has witnessed the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Textile Science and Technology & World Textile University Alliance Annual Meeting. Lasting from July 5th to 8th, this grand event hosted by Donghua University (DHU) was themed by “Textile Weaves a Better World: Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development”, and was attended by more than 400 scholars in the textile field. The attendees came from 102 universities, research institutes, and enterprises in 12 countries, including China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, etc. During the event, experts jointly explored the cutting-edge directions, research hotspots, and those latest developments in the textile industry.

The International Conference on Advanced Textile Science and Technology has gradually become an important platform for global researchers concerned to probe into the new perspectives, theories, methods, technologies and achievements in the textile field. In recent years, DHU has actively explored a sustainable development path in the textile field and aligned with the national initiative of jointly building “the Belt and Road”. Adhering to the concept of open education and collaborative innovation, DHU is making efforts to build an all-round, multi-level and wide-ranging  pattern of open education. The event had 4 main forum reports and 15 branch venues, covering multiple advanced textile topics, such as modern textile processing technology and textile structural composites. During this session, an international annual academic conference for doctoral students majoring in the first-class discipline of textile science and engineering was also held. Meanwhile, in-depth discussions, with a continued focus on the topic of “sustainability”, were carried out on the World Textile University Alliance Annual Meeting, involving experts, scholars and industry representatives from China Textile Engineering Society, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the World Wide Fund for Nature and other institutions. Attendees exchanged ideas on jointly creating a green future for the textile industry, helping to promote new thinkings, technologies and models for the sustainable development of this field. Their opinions can provide new approaches to the textile education and industrial development of “the Belt and Road” co-construction countries, and can contribute wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind at the same time.
