On April 23, 2024, the China-Bangladesh Industrial Development Forum on International Textile Technology Integration kicks off in Bangladesh. Jointly organized by the China Textile Engineering Society, Donghua University, the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the BGMEA Fashion and Technology University of Bangladesh, the forum is targeted to enhance international academic exchanges in the textile industry, offering support for the transformation and upgrading of the textile industry in countries along the Belt and Road route. Numerous experts, scholars, and business representatives from the field were attracted to the forum.

Leaders, experts, scholars, and representatives from the textile industries of China and Bangladesh were present at the opening ceremony for the future development trends and strategic cooperation opportunities in the textile industry. Yang Xiaodong, Vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), gave a speech titled “The Path toward High-Quality Development and Integration of Textile and Apparel Industries in China and Bangladesh”, providing an in-depth analysis of the cooperation potential and development prospects in the textile field between the two countries. Wang Xianfeng, Deputy Dean of the College of Textiles at Donghua University, gave a presentation on “Cultivate High-Tech Modern Textile Technology, and Boost the Synergy between Technological Transformation and International Talent Exchange”, introducing cutting-edge areas of modern textile technology and innovative models for international talent development in the future. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice President of BGMEA Fashion and Technology University in Bangladesh, addressed the attendees with the title “Practice and Reflection on Joint Education of International Outstanding Young Talents in Textiles”, sharing the university’s practical experience, classic cases, and insights in terms of international joint education for the past few years.

Moreover, the conference arranged three sub-forums: the China-Bangladesh Textile and Apparel Quality Management Exchange Meeting, the China-Bangladesh Textile and Apparel Precision Matchmaking Meeting, and the China-Bangladesh International Textile Science and Talent Education Exchange Meeting. Participants delivered speeches and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as textile technology innovation, talent education, and international cooperation with a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere and a strong academic ambiance at these forums.

Before the event, a technology service team organized visits to the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CEAB), the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and also to some representative textile and apparel companies in Bangladesh.

This conference is another international event hosted by the Colleges of Textiles at Donghua University in 2024, leveraging its advantage as a member of the World Textile University Alliance. Recently, at the Third International Textile Academic Conference in Pakistan, Donghua University joined as a co-organizer for the second consecutive year, and Professor Gu Bohong from the College of Textiles made a keynote speech. Since its establishment in 2018 as the Secretariat of the Textile & Fashion Education World Conference, Donghua University has continuously pioneered in first-class discipline building worldwide, centered on building an international textile academic integration platform with international textbooks, education, conferences, and projects as key mainstays.
