Green Africa: Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel & Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum Held

During September 17-18, the 2022 Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel & Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum was held in Songjiang Campus of Donghua University. The symposium was hosted by Donghua University and co-organized by Moi University of Kenya and Tiangong University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Wuhan Textile University and Quanzhou Normal University.

Under the theme of "Green Africa", the symposium has one main forum and four sub-forums around the topic of "Green Textile Technology and Sustainable Development". Lecturers are from United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), China National Textile and Apparel, Wuxi No.1 Cotton Mill Textile Group, University of Edinburgh (UK), University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Moi University (Kenya), Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), Jazira University (Sudan), Donghua University, Peking University, National Academy of Governance, Zhejiang Normal University, Tiangong University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Wuhan Textile University, Quanzhou Normal University, China People's Liberation Army National Defence University, City University of Macau, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other universities, institutions and enterprises at home and abroad.


The four parallel forums were hosted by the College of Textiles, the College of Fashion and Design, the School of Marxism and the School of Business and Management. In the sub-forums, nearly 70 experts and scholars from China and abroad combined online and offline approaches to carry out in-depth thinking on the frontier scientific and technological development of textiles and apparel, strategies for sustainable development in Africa and China-and-Africa joint construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, under different topics of advanced textile, textile and apparel green technology, community with shared future for mankind: theory and practice, textile and apparel trade, supply chain and investment. The symposium selected 128 high-quality papers from more than 300 papers submitted by various universities in China and Africa and compiled them into a collection, which was published by Donghua University Press.

It is reported that the Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel & Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum has been held in China and Africa in turn since 2015, and it is now the eighth session. The forum has received devoted guidance and strong support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the World Bank, WWF and the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
