The Subcommittee 1 on Ophthalmic optics of National Technical Committee 596 on Optometry of Standardization Committee of China (SAC/TC596/SC1) was approved to be established according to the announcement issued by Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC).

Initiated and established by China National Inspection & Testing Center for Ophthalmic Optic Glass and Enamel Products subordinate to DHU, the Committee is a technical work organization that is mainly responsible for the revision of Chinese standards of ophthalmology management, terminology, products and equipment, inspection methods and service, etc., and the centralized management by specified departments of national ophthalmic optics technology. 

The establishment of the Committee is of great significance in the standardization of ophthalmic optics and the sound development of the ophthalmic optics technology and industry. Adhering to Chinese major planning and strategies of standardization, the Committee will strengthen the research and implementation of Chinese national and industrial standards of ophthalmic optics and promote the internationalization of Chinese standards with a team composed of first-class scholars, enterprise and industry experts and elite research teams.
