Recently, Shanghai released for the first time the Top 10 Typical Cases of Intellectual Property Reform and Innovation in 2021. The case of "Establishment of the first Comprehensive Service Platform for Copyright of Traditional Chinese Costumes in China" by the Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center in Donghua University was on the list.

The "Top 10 Typical Cases of Intellectual Property Reform and Innovation in 2021" is designed to summarize the characteristics, highlights and experience of intellectual property reform in 2021 in Shanghai, encourage all departments to reform and innovate boldly, and promote the high-quality development of Shanghai's intellectual property cause. Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Intellectual Property Joint Conference Office, and through the procedures of publicity, departmental application and expert review, 10 cases including the "Establishment of the First Comprehensive Service Platform for Copyright of Traditional Chinese Costumes in China" were finally selected.

It is understood that to enhance the copyright protection of Chinese traditional costume design, promote the prosperity and development of Shanghai's creative design and fashion industries, and refuel Shanghai’s efforts in building a world-class "design capital", Shanghai Press and Publication (Copyright) Bureau has set up the first comprehensive service platform for copyright of traditional Chinese costumes in China - Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center. The Center, developed around Hanfu design, covers the cultural pedigree of traditional costumes of various ethnic groups in China, and provides a full range of copyright services for original costume designs with Chinese characteristics. Cooperating with museums and textile colleges all over the world, it will take further the historical research of Hanfu, and build the most authoritative Hanfu pattern resource library in China; also, joining hands with Shanghai Fashion Accessories Society, Shang Chuang Hui – Donghua University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator Base and other units, it provides professional services in copyright registration, confirmation and protection for modern Hanfu design; moreover, it is the organizer of national Hanfu design competitions to gather leading forces in original creation.
