Chinese Fashion Elements Pop up at NOREB Exhibition

The North Rift Economic Block (referred as NOREB hereinafter) exhibition was held at Eldoret Sports Club in Uasin-Gishu county starting from 18th November to 21st November 2015. NOREB aims to facilitate economic, social and cultural empowerment in the region by establishing guidelines and principles designed to provide supportive environment as a platform for regional cooperation and prosperity.

All the eight counties in the north Rift region, including Nandi, Uasin-Gishu, Turkana, Elgeiyo, Marakwet, Trans-zoia, Baringo and West Pokot showcased what they had achieved in economics by allowing business enterprises from these regions and some of their distinguished cultural organizations to present in the exhibition.

Confucius Institute at Moi University was among one of them in the exhibition. Chinese tradition culture demonstrations were one of the spotlights in the exhibition, which attracted many local visitors most of whom hadn’t seen them so closely before.The staff from CI introduced the patterns and manufacturing procedures of Chinese traditional clothes designed for Chinese ethnic group.

We also showcased the traditional Chinese textile designs and arts as well as advertising the Chinese courses offered by our institute. The people were very excited about it and showed interests in knowing more about Chinese culture.
