On May 25, the inauguration ceremonies for the School of Mathematics and Statistics and the College of Physics were held separately at the Songjiang Campus. The establishment of the School of Mathematics and Statistics and the College of Physics is a key measure in response to national needs and a strategic layout for the university’s development. It marks an important milestone in the development of the university’s foundational disciplines. Following the unveiling ceremonies, expert consultation meetings on discipline construction were held for both schools.

In the future, the School of Mathematics and Statistics aims to expand and enhance its distinctive research areas, strengthen the construction of research platforms, and reinforce the social service functions of its disciplines. It will actively align with the construction of Shanghai as an international economic center, financial center, trade center, shipping center, as well as a science and technology innovation center, and promote interdisciplinary integration, to explore new models for cultivating top-notch innovative talents in fundamental mathematics. The College of Physics will focus on advancing frontier research and collaborative projects in disciplines such as integrated circuits, striving to foster new growth possibilities for the discipline and contribute to the high-quality development initiative “Striving for Excellence at Donghua”.
